Newsflash !!

The wine bar at no 19 High Street, Charing, is going to reopen on Thursday  March 8th as "Bar Nineteen".

Kerry, Natasha and Ziggy's joint venture will open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 18.30 till 23.00.

Mezze, tapas and platters will be available Thursdays and Fridays and a set 3- course menu will be added to that on Saturday nights.

Launch weekend will be 8/9/10 of March. More details on events will follow.

If you suffer from any of these you will know how much they can hold you back. Yvonne will explain how these can be overcome quicker than you may think is possible so that you can live a more happy and complete life.

MANAGING STRESS - WED 7 MARCH at Noon

The world seems to be getting more pressurized. Stress can have a big negative impact on your health and wellbeing. Yvonne will give you some simple and valuable tips and techniques on better ways to manage stress and get more from your time and your life.

Opening up soon.... The Tzar Bar!

We are pleased to announce the (re) opening of the wine bar at no 19 the High Street.

Under Russian management, the Tzar Bar will have a distinct Russian flavour, with a range of vodka's, caviar , blinis etc. Platters, light bites and drinks will be available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night in the New Year from 6pm.

Eat your way around the world - CBA network meeting

Calling all CBA members - and none members (in business)

PLEASE can all of you who have anything to do with food (selling it, making it, or just loving it) attend the Tree House at the Oak THIS WEDNESDAY AT 7pm (today).

We have some ideas for a Food Festival at the end of October, early November and the lead in time is getting shorter as we speak if we are to get the best publicity for the event.

The idea is based on "Eat Your Way Around the World." We can include all members who run themed restaurants, but also shops retailing food items and anyone connected with food from its nutritional and healthy values to the naughty but nice indulgence, and would welcome those of you who would do a demonstration event. A week of events to attract customers into the village is possible, we also have details of a Food Forager, who presents TV programmes on the topic, and might lead a walk on the North Downs.

If you are not yet a member, come anyway and pay £25 subscription on the night, as this event will benefit your business - the publicity is paid for out of our regular subscriptions.

Your ideas are welcome, so please make attending on Wednesday an absolute priority - the object is to get more trade into the village while offering something enjoyable for residents and visitors alike. BUT, we do need to decide who is doing what and when with some urgency.

Those of you who have businesses not obviously linked to this proposal - COME ANYWAY - it's a great opportunity to network and we would like to hear from you some ideas for discussion at future events - theft and better security for lone workers might be one for example!

A brand new currency: Charing Pound

And you can win one (or two) during the Fete!

An initiative of the Charing Business Association (CBA)

The Charing Business Association have produced some exciting new cash; the Charing Pound.  The Charing Pound can be spent and redeemed with any Charing Business Association member.  That means people lucky enough to have Charing Pounds will be able to spend these not only in the High Street but also with any of the other many interesting businesses in Charing. 

You can use Charing Pounds where-ever you see the orange CBA logo.  The idea behind the Charing Pound is to promote the many different businesses and services available in Charing.  So whether it’s a hair cut, a gift, dinner, gym membership, therapy, business services, wood, carpet, cleaning or bigger purchases such as some carpet or even a house, the Charing Pound is very useful and definitely the cash to have!

The CBA has donated 50 Charing Pounds for a prize at the Summer Fete. They look like the above image - the real ones have been signed by CBA's chariman Vin and have a serial number. The lucky winner will be able to redeem these with any member of the Charing Business Association. So look out for the new Charing Pound - it’s the cash to have!

CBA: Network in the Treehouse

Thanks to all of you who made the last networking event for CBA members. We hope you enjoyed it – we certainly thought it was nice to put faces to names and have a drink together.

Adam, of the Oak, very very kindly paid for your first drink and has offered us free use of the Treehouse for another Networking event and for future ones! We therefore would like to invite ALL CBA members, for another drink and get-together on

At this event, we'd like to:

• get everyone to introduce themselves – say a few words about what you do
• get your thoughts on regular future networking events – we have some good ideas
• update you on what the CBA has done, its objectives and our thoughts
• see if anyone else would like to be on the Committee
• see if you have any ideas what we as a group of businesses in Charing should or could be doing to support each other and get more business

We're planning to do this event in a bit more of a formal style to begin with to allow us to speak with everyone. Hardcore socialisers and networkers are then free to move on downstairs!!
