Edspire Reaches Finals of Second Annual MAD Blog Awards

Jennie Nairn, a Mum of twins from Charing has reached the finals of a prestigious national awards scheme for parent bloggers.
The Mum and Dad (MAD) Blog Awards, sponsored by Parentdish.co.uk, celebrate the best blogs written by British parents. The competition is now in its second year and is supported by companies including Morrisons, Early Learning Centre and TalkTalk.
More than 3,000 people have already nominated their favourite parent blogs in 15 different categories, with five blogs reaching the finals in each group. Blog fans now have just four weeks to vote for their favourite blogs at the MAD Blog Awards website

Jennie’s blog, EDSPIRE has been shortlisted for the “Baby” category, which recognises bloggers who have shared the early days of their babies’ lives with their readers and kept a wonderful record of their babies first year of life full of words and cute photos too. The winning blogger in the category will receive a Tommee Tippee Explorer Weaning Kit and Plum Baby hamper.
Jennie said:

“I’m really thrilled to have reached the finals of the MAD Blog Awards, and it’s fantastic to be in such great company, with so many great blogs. Writing the blog has been difficult at times, but it’s allowed me to make great friends and is a lot of fun.”

Jennie started her blog when her 10 month old twins were born at just 27 weeks gestation. She hopes that her story can inspire and support other parents who have to walk in her shoes. The blog is also a celebration of the lives of Esther and William who are now enjoying life to the full after their difficult start. Esther and William spent their first 59 days in the Neonatal Unit Of William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. Odd Man Out Competition 2011

Back by popular demand! Charing Primary School PTFA would like to organise the ‘Odd Man Out Competition’ again this year.

The competition runs during the week leading up to the Church Fete (which is on the 18^th June), encouraging families to visit the shops, further publicise the Church Fete, raise funds for our school, and above all is a fun activity for local children too!

The support from our local shops and businesses was fantastic last year, and the children loved looking for the ‘Odd’ item in the windows.

Odd Man Out 2011 Key Facts!!

• The shops/businesses that are participating put something that they DO NOT sell (an 'ODD' item) somewhere in their shop window, (and a small poster to say they are taking part.)
• Entry forms are £1 (available from the school office), and between 10^th & 17^th June children look in the shop windows and try and identify what the 'ODD' item is.
• The winning entrant is pulled out of a hat (of correctly completed entries) and presented with a prize at the Church Fete on June 18^th.
• The PTFA provide the prize (unless a Trader would like to donate one!) Many thanks to Saddlers Estate Agent who donated the prize last year.
• The competition is open to all children whether or not they live in the village or attend Charing Primary School

The more "Odds" there are, the merrier this popular Competition will be.

All businesses that have participated in the past will be contacted by the PTFA to see if they are again happy to join in, others are invited to contact the PTFA to join in the fun this year too!

Ballet Classes starting in Charing

Info received from a delighted mother:

"I thought that it might be of interest to mothers in Charing that there is a new ballet class opening in September for both boys and girls to learn ballet. My daughter goes to the class in Egerton at the moment and I am delighted that Mrs Loftie is opening a second class so conveniently in our village.
I attach the letter from Mrs Loftie which gives all the details."

Egerton Ballet School at the CHARING BARN, CHARING

From September this year I will be starting ballet classes in Charing on MONDAY AFTERNOONS at the Church Barn, Market Place, Charing.
My Wednesday afternoon classes in Egerton Village Hall will continue as normal.

If your child already comes to ballet please let me know if you would prefer to attend my classes in Charing rather than Egerton.

If you would like to join the ballet classes either in Charing or in Egerton please contact me for details.
