Charing Guild of Players news

1. The Charing Guild Of Players will be participating in one-act play festival which will be held at The Tower Theatre, Shorncliffe, near Folkestone. There will be a play reading for this on Monday June 22nd at 7.30pm in The Church Barn.


2. The Guild's 2009 AGM will be held in The Church Barn on Tuesday June 30th at 7.30pm. Details of all The Guild's activities can be found on their new website.


3. Looking forward to February next year, the Guild are hoping to produce an epic adaptation of Robert Louis Stephenson's 'Treasure Island'. This will need a large cast to fulfil all the pirate roles and should be a fun production to be a part of.
   Any budding Johnny Depps should come along to the first reading on Monday September 14th at 7.30pm, again in The Church Barn.

Natural History Evening - stimulating presentation on local wildlife, landscapes and history of Charing and surrounding area: June 16th 7.00pm - 9.00pm
(Will take place in the Pavilion on the Charing Playing Fields)

Take a fascinating look at the Kent landscape through the pages of local author, Dan Tuson's book, "The Kent Downs". Explore the delights of the countries colourful flora and fauna.

Experience the Kent Landscape through the eyes of a historian. Develop an understanding of a changing landscape and unveil features, hidden from your conscious daily observations.

Another 'on demand 'currency for the summer holidays. This time Turkish Lira for those looking for a cheaper destination. This is in addition to 'on demand' Euros and US Dollars and there is a better exchange rate if you purchase over £500 worth of currency.

It's true you know - "there's always something going on in Charing" so as Yvonne Harvey hairstylists is getting a new look, why not get one for yourself? The long, and hopefully hot, days, the occasional swim and perhaps some tennis, call for something manageable but stylish, so why not call Sharon and her team and book an appointment? You will definitely look your best for all the events this summer!

The Charing Fete on 20th June is the one everyone wants to attend, it's fun for all the family and as well as the traditional Morris dancing and the very popular hog roast, there will be lots more to enjoy and with something new every year, this will be no exception.

From 5th June, weekend shopping will be less of a rush, as Richards Butchers will be open until 7pm Friday evenings, with a great selection of tasty ideas for the BBQ.

The wonderful Kentish teas start again on Sunday 7th June in the Church Barn, where villagers and visitors are assured a warm welcome along with their slice of delicious homemade cake!
